THE BRUTES ARE BACK IN TOWN
In the 1960s, they were teenagers. Today, they're "over the hill." But that doesn't stop them from bringing back the music they loved, the audiences they adored and the band they bonded with 40 years ago.
Jay Beamer, Steve Snyder, Gardy Lawrence, Chris Camac and Alan Stonesifer are reuniting as The Brutes for a benefit concert Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Littlestown Eagles.
They're performing with their original band manager, DJ Tom Stavely, as MC at the event, and they're even proving they can be multimedia adept, putting up slides of past albums and bands as they sing '60s cover songs.
"We're gonna try to put people on a time capsule for three hours," lead vocalist Lawrence said.
The proceeds from the event benefits the Littlestown High School music department, in honor of late band member John Maitland, who died in a car accident in 1982. The band's hope is that children will keep music alive..
